My CROP Hunger Walk page
Have you thought about what it is like to not know if you will eat tomorrow, or what it feels like sitting waiting in line for the open pantry to give you food? You wonder what kind of food you will get, if it will taste good. If everyone there really deserves to be there. You feel embarrassed for having to ask for help. You feel anger if you are told no or that you don?t qualify. You are disappointed if they run out before they get to you, and you watch the other 50 people there with you going through the same emotions. Being hungry is not fun, it is not a game and it does happen to people who don?t deserve it. It isn?t just because someone is an addict or can?t manage their own money. Sometimes there just isn?t enough to go around and it is easier to cut the food bill and go without that than it is to go without lights, or heat. Did you know that most people who donate to food charities are the ones that can least afford it? They donate because they are so close themselves and they wonder if they will be next in the line for those who are going hungry. Did you know in America alone that number is one in six? It is the elderly, it is the children, and it is everyday people just like you. I know, because my family has been there. That is why I am walking on Sunday.
