Colombia has one of the world’s largest internally displaced populations, due to conflict, political violence, and human rights violations. Church World Service is fighting for the lives and rights of Colombian and other refugees and displaced persons in the region, speaking out about their plight on the national and international stage, helping provide for their most basic needs, and resettling some refugees here in the U.S. when conditions permit. CWS is also helping partners and churches in Chile welcome a limited number of Colombian refugees to their country. Along with its resettlement of refugees here in the U.S., the CWS Immigration and Refugee Program participates in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cuban/Haitian Program by providing services to newly arrived entrants to the U.S. via our Miami, FL, office. |
