Since its founding in 1946, Church World Service has been working with the people of Asia. In fact, a number of our partner organizations in the region were founded with CWS support. Together with our country programs in the region, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, and Pakistan-Afghanistan, the breadth of knowledge, experience, and long-lasting relationships with local partners makes Church World Service’s work in Asia truly unique. Without the dedicated work of our partners, Church World Service would not be able to fulfill its mission. When communities take a hold of their own development and futures, work to recover from disasters or emergencies, take the initiative in interfaith dialogue and discourse, amazing things can happen. And, when CWS joins them on their journey, the results speak for themselves. For example, the CWS-Pakistan/Afghanistan program has developed a broad array of partnerships, both locally and internationally. Currently, CWS works in collaboration with 371 partners there. The possibilities are endless when so many helpful and hopeful partners put their expertise, faith, and knowledge together!
Pakistan Nusrat Bibi’s new livestock veterinary skills are highly valued in her community and provide income for her family. The CWS-supported veterinary training program enables women and their families to gain a sense of security, plan for the education of their children, and look toward the future with confidence.
