Church World Service works with our local partners in Africa in ways as numerous as the needs and promises of that vast continent.

Hunger, refugees, water scarcity, families affected by the scourge of HIV/AIDS. CWS strives to provide immediate relief and comfort as well as long-term solutions--walking with some of the most vulnerable women, children, and men as they work to forge better lives for themselves and their communities. Combining work in emergency response, grassroots development, refugee assistance, and advocacy, Church World Service works with local community and faith partners across the continent.

Mozambique Jacinta Monteiro, 15, wants to stay in school and become a teacher – thanks in part to a CWS-supported after-school program. She and classmates are gaining confidence and learning useful skills – including how to grow vegetables for their families.
