Preparing for disaster now saves money - and lives - once disaster strikes.

Often times the communities most vulnerable to poverty and marginalization are also at high risk for disasters.  Helping these communities reduce their risk cuts to the quick of the CWS mission.

That's especially evident in Myanmar (Burma), where CWS has enjoyed a long relationship with four local groups.  Together, CWS and its partners educate rural communities about disaster preparation, risk minimization, and how to react when disaster strikes.

Here, Takeshi Komino, head of emergencies for CWS Asia/Pacific, explains how the CWS Myanmar (Burma) program works.
