Bearing witness to Africa's suffering
There are many in our world whose misfortune threatens their very lives. In the Horn of Africa, the United Nations and other global experts estimate 800,000 children are suffering from acute malnutrition. While immediate help cannot be denied, we must also address one of the principal causes of this perennial problem – access to safe water.
Drawing leaders together
Through October 9, faith communities across the U.S. will hold DREAM Sabbath events in support of the DREAM Act, a bi-partisan bill that would provide a path to citizenship for undocumented youth brought here as children who have graduated from high school or obtained a GED, and continued on to college or joined the military.
Raising awareness with a meal
This World Food Day (Oct. 16), you can dedicate your Sunday dinner as a World Food Day meal, broadening the conversation about where our food comes from, and how we can make the food system more just and sustainable. Our new “Hunger Placemat” is now available, along with several other downloadable resources, at hunger.cwsglobal.org/wfd.
