Why are people hungry? There is food enough for everybody, but some people still don’t get enough. Hunger continues because people either do not have access to food or they cannot afford to buy the food that is available. Over 840 million people around the world receive insufficient nutrition - about one of every six people in the world. The roots of hunger are found in poverty, war, unfair trade patterns, ignorance, and disease.
There are solutions. Creative efforts by poor people themselves are making a difference. Working together with them, Church World Service seeks to fashion a world that works for all.
